Early Check-In (complimentary) is available from 3:00 PM if your room is cleaned and ready.
Early arrivals cannot be guaranteed and are subject to availability. To guarantee early arrival,
we recommend reserving the prior night.
Late Arrival: Please notify us if you will arrive after 6:00 PM. Guests arriving after 8:30 PM
staying in the Historic Building are kindly asked to be quiet and considerate of fellow guests on
the stairs and hallways.
Late Check-Out: Available until 12:30 PM for $35.00 Plus tax. Request the evening before —
subject to availability.
SELF CHECK-IN
Captain's Inn offers a contactless self check-in experience. On your arrival day, you will receive
a text message with your room name and smart-lock entry code. No waiting — just walk right in.
REGISTRATION
A registration form will be placed in your room. Please complete and sign it at your leisure and
leave it in the room or drop it on the study table in the Historic Building upon departure.
We require a valid state-issued photo ID, a credit card with billing address, and the email
address of the reservation holder.
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY
Boathouse & Historic House rooms: 2 persons per room
Dock Holiday Suite: 6 persons
Hideaway: 3 persons
A "person" includes adults, children, and infants. Guests must be 18 years of age or older to
make a reservation.
QUIET HOURS
Quiet hours are from 8:30 PM to 9:30 AM.
Captain's Inn is a place of peaceful relaxation for all guests. Parties, loud music, and excessive
noise are not permitted at any hour. Violations will result in a minimum fee of $250 and may
result in eviction without refund.
CHILDREN & MINORS
Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The accompanying adult is
required to sign a written agreement to supervise the minor and ensure their behavior does not
disturb other guests or cause damage to the property (Civil Code Section 1865(d)). Refusal to
sign this agreement is grounds for refusing accommodations.
SMOKING
Captain's Inn is a 100% smoke-free property. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the
premises, including guest rooms, balconies, and common areas.
A charge of one additional night's room rate plus a $250 deep-cleaning fee will apply if evidence
of smoking is found in a guest room.
PETS
Pets are not permitted on the property. Service animals are welcome in accordance with ADA
law. Emotional support animals are not permitted.
PARKING
Complimentary parking is available on our private lot on a first-come, first-served basis. Street
parking is also available on Moss Landing Road. SUVs, pickup trucks, and campers must use
street parking. Management is not responsible for theft, vandalism, or damage to vehicles.
PAYMENT
The full balance of your stay is due 48 hours before your arrival date.
Accepted payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and Cash (USD
only).
A $150 incidental hold will be placed on your card at check-in and released upon checkout.
Special events, group stays, long weekends, and holidays may carry separate charging policies,
which will be disclosed at the time of booking.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Standard Policy:
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before arrival will receive a full refund, less a $15 credit
card processing fee. Cancellations within 48 hours of arrival will forfeit one night's room charge
plus tax. No-shows and same-day cancellations forfeit the full reservation amount. Early
departures forfeit payment for the entire reserved stay.
Special Events & Long Weekends:
The standard 48-hour policy does not apply to long weekends, special events, or holidays.
Separate cancellation terms will be provided at the time of booking.
Concours d'Elegance — August 7–16, 2026:
Cancellations must be received 30 days before arrival. The full reservation amount will be
charged at the 30-day mark and is non-refundable. No-shows are charged in full.
Non-Refundable Rates:
Guests who book a non-refundable rate will be charged the full amount at the time of booking.
No refunds for any reason.
PROPERTY POLICIES
No candles, incense, lighters, or open flames are permitted anywhere on the property, per the
Monterey County Fire Marshal.
Boathouse rooms feature elevated beds designed to provide clear views of the Elkhorn Slough
through the large windows. Guests are advised to exercise caution when getting in and out of
these beds. Guests with mobility concerns or medical conditions may prefer a Historic Building
room. By staying in a Boathouse room, guests acknowledge this design and agree to exercise
appropriate caution.
Guests are responsible for any loss or damage to room furnishings, linens, towels, glassware,
keys, or other items. Charges for missing or damaged items will be applied after departure.
Captain's Inn is not responsible for personal valuables, cash, or belongings left in guest rooms.
Unauthorized commercial photography or filming on the property is prohibited without prior
written approval.
Management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
Failure to comply with any of the above policies may result in eviction without refund.
LOST & FOUND
Items left behind will be held for 10 days from the date of departure. Unclaimed items will be
